"Shawls ... made for centuries universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover,
give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly
above their troubles..."

A group of dedicated ladies lovingly knit and crochet shawls and lap blankets to provide warmth and comfort for those who are ill and homebound, in nursing homes and in hospitals. Soft and cuddly blankets are given to babies and young children who are ill and to children going through extensive medical treatment as they stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Valhalla.
Thank you to Fr. John Serio for blessing the beautiful creations made by the ladies of Prayer Shawl. The blessing was just as beautiful as all the shawls and blankets; blessing bestowed on those who receive them, as well as those who spend their time and talents to make them.
The ladies of the Prayer Shawl Ministry recently donated 70 children’s blankets to the Ronald McDonald House at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.
The blankets were in a rainbow of colors and styles. The director of the house was thrilled to receive our blankets, and knew they would be greatly appreciated by the children who are ill and their families.
The ladies also donated 25 shawls to patients at Westchester Medical Center. They will be a great comfort to those who are ill.
Thanks to all the ladies for all your hard work!
Ladies of the Prayer Shawl have been hard at work making hundred of beautiful shawls, lap blankets, children blankets and christening blankets during the pandemic. These unique creations will be blessed and shawls will be donated to Westchester Medical Center (25), children blankets to Ronald McDonald House (70) and christening blankets to each child baptized at Holy Name of Jesus.
